September 5 Spend a couple of enjoyable hours with friends learning to make a fashionable multi strand, toggle clasp bracelet OR a single strand wire wrapped bracelet, using beautiful glass accessory beads and gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry findings and wire. Participants will also learn to manipulate wire to create charm dangles, wire wrapped beads, and other specialty features for their jewelry. Class includes all the glass & metal beads, chain, wire, and jewelry findings needed for either project. Instructor will supply safety equipment & jewelry tools, but please bring your own reading glasses if needed. No experience necessary.

Pate de Verre: 2 Part Press Mold
Class will be taught at Striking Art Studio (directions will be provided)
October 8 - 29th (4 classes)
Wednesdays, 10am - 3pm
Students will learn to make a 2 part press mold w/ exterior designs in bas relief on their hollow vessel. Students will make a two-part press mold to create a bowl form in glass with extensive bas relief designs. This process yields a luminous vessel with a rich alabaster-like surface. Students will also learn to make glass test tiles to create their own custom colors in various dilution ratios. The final class will be spent divesting the mold and debriefing the firing, as well as learning several coldworking techniques using various pieces of studio equipment with time to coldwork your own piece. All materials and equipment are provided. Bring a sack lunch, pen and notebook to class with some preliminary surface design ideas. No prerequisites; beginning and continuing students welcome. Class will be taught at Striking Art Studio in Sammaish ~ Directions will be provided.

Beginning Beadmaking Class Series

October 30 - November 20 (4 Classes)
Thursdays, 10am - 2pm
Dive into the world of glass beadmaking with four weeks of classes designed to teach you the basics of manipulating hot glass on a bench mounted propane & oxygen torch. Class size is small to ensure plenty of instructor attention as you learn the beginning techniques of using steel mandrels and rods of colored moretti glass to create basic bead shapes, dots & bubbles, simple & twisted stringer, and surface embellishments along with the basics of kiln annealing, bead cleanup, and proper equipment use. All materials, tools, and safety equipment provided. Wear 100% cotton clothing, no baggy sleeves. No prerequisites required for new students; returning students who want to practice their beginning skills are also welcome.

November 5, 12 & 19 (3 classes)
Wednesdays, 10am - 2pm
Make an exciting piece of glass art that is multi-colored, heavy, and very unique! Students will design a pattern slab bowl (10 inch diameter) OR platter (12 x 8 inch) using multiple colors & layers of glass. Students will set up their piece as a deep cast to be fired by the instructor the week between classes. During the second class, we will cover all the ins and outs of coldworking, with plenty of time for you to work on your piece. The coldworked fused blanks will be set up for slump firing & ready for pickup and debrief the following week. All materials & equipment are provided. Bring a pen & sketchbook to class. Intermediate Fusing experience is required. (This class entails two firings.)
